Consider/Approve Amendment to Board Policy #5.202 –
Separation Practices for Non-Certified Employees


Background Information:

Effective July 1, 2011, Public Chapter 335 amended TCA §49‐2‐301 and provides that all unlicensed personnel are hired at the will of the director of schools, rather than on an annual contract, and the school board is to develop a policy for dismissal of these employees. This change in law was addressed with all non-certified personnel during in-service prior to the beginning of school and each received a copy of the attached memo.

To comply with this change in statute, TSBA has developed the attached new policy. The Board’s current policy is attached for your reference.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval and adoption of Board Policy #5.202 – Separation Practices for Non-Certified Employees, on second and final reading.
